WE don't have their names but we do have a name for them - Unknown Heroes.

Three strangers, including a Singapore cabby, played crucial roles in helping teen model Manohara Odelia Pinot flee from her husband, Kelantan prince Tengku Temenggong Muhammad Fakhry on Saturday.

Ms Pinot's sister, Ms Dewi Sari Asih, 20, told The New Paper that the escape would not have been possible if not for the help they received from these strangers.

The first was an informant from within the Kelantan palace. This unnamed person tipped off Ms Pinot's family in Indonesia last Wednesday.

The informant told them that Ms Pinot would be in Singapore that week.

On Saturday, the same caller called again and told them to 'better come quick now' as Ms Pinot would be leaving Singapore that night.

Ms Pinot's mother, Madam Daisy Fajarina, and Ms Asih subsequently took the first flight they could get from Jakarta to Singapore that afternoon.

Arriving in Changi Airport at about 8pm, they hailed a cab and made a beeline for Royal Plaza on Scotts.

Their cabby is unknown hero No 2.

On the way to the hotel, the mother and daughter started discussing about Ms Pinot's plight.

The taxi driver overheard their strange conversation.

Said Miss Asih: 'The taxi driver said he wasn't trying to listen to our conversation but from what he had heard, he advised us to call the police.'

She and her mother were initially hesitant about getting the police involved.

'We were worried that the police might not help us. So we asked the taxi driver how the police here worked,' said Miss Asih.

'He told us that the police would definitely protect us regardless of who we were, whether we were foreigners or locals, whether we were rich orpoor.'

The taxi driver's conviction in the police moved them.

Glimmer of hope

When they called the police, there was finally a glimmer of hope that they would get to see Ms Pinot after allegedly being denied contact with her for close to three months.

Having last seen Ms Pinot on 9 Mar before she was whisked away on a private jet in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, her mother and sister were excited by the prospect of seeing her again.

But they were unprepared for the drama that was to unfold.

Arriving at the hotel at around 8.30pm, they entered the hotel lobby to find four to five of the prince's bodyguards there.

Miss Asih told The New Paper over the phone from Jakarta: 'The bodyguards' faces changed when they saw us. They looked scared and shocked and started speaking into their handphones.

'We waited in the area around the elevator, hoping to see Manohara as that was where she would come out from. We could not go up as we did not have a pass key (to operate the lift).'

The police arrived less than 10 minutes after they arrived.

Then, unknown hero No 3 lent a helping hand.

Said Miss Asih: 'A lady, who turned out to be an Indonesian guest staying at the hotel, came up to us while we were waiting near the elevator.

'She asked my mum if she was Manohara's mum. My mum said yes, and she told us that she saw Manohara on the third floor, but the people upstairs were not letting her come down.

'Then I heard the emergency alarm from the elevator. A woman and a man then came running from the lobby area towards the elevator carrying what looked like a doctor's bag. They (the security guards) told them to go to the third floor.

'We tried to follow them up, but they stopped us.'

Soon after, her mum and the police also went up to the third floor while Miss Asih stayed behind in the lobby.

Said Madam Fajarina: 'When I got up to the third floor, I saw Manohara inside the lift, sitting on the floor crying, pressing the alarm button. She refused to get out.

'When she saw me, she started screaming for me and said, 'Mother, never let me go again'.'

Miss Asih said that she later met her sister and her mother in a hotel room on the third floor belonging to the Indonesian lady who had earlier tipped them off about seeing Ms Pinot on that floor. She had allowed them to use her room.

Miss Asih said that Ms Pinot later contacted American embassy officials who turned up with officials from the Indonesian embassy.

Madam Fajarina said that they stayed in the room from 9pm to 4am and negotiated with the prince, who did not want to let her daughter go.

She added that the prince relented only after his lawyer advised him that he could be in trouble with the law if he refused.

The family then made their way back to Jakarta on an early morning flight on Sunday.

Recounting her experiences that night, Miss Asih said: 'I feel relieved to see her in person, but it was bittersweet. I was so happy to see her, but also sad that she had to go through all those painful things. I wished she didn't have to go through that.

'It was very emotional, we wouldn't let go of each other.

When contacted, Mr Patrick Fiat, general manager of Royal Plaza on Scotts said: 'The matter is a private affair and Royal Plaza on Scotts is committed to honouring our guests' confidentiality hence we are not at liberty to comment.'

When asked what actions the hotel takes when the emergency bell in the elevator goes off, he declined to comment, citing confidentiality for all security measures.

At a press conference in Jakarta after she arrived, Ms Pinot said: 'I am still traumatised by all that happened and it has left an impact on me.'

Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said Singapore police had called the US and Indonesian embassies for assistance.

'After Manohara was secured by the Singaporean police, our embassy staff in Singapore processed all her documents at the hotel within only four hours from 12 am to 4 am on Sunday so she could go back to Indonesia immediately,' the spokesman said.

Ms Pinot said told the press conference that she wanted a divorce and would file a police report against her estranged husband.

PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA - The Manohara saga has taken a dramatic turn with Interpol getting into the act, allegations of abuse and even drama contracts for the estranged wife of a Kelantan royalty.

Daisy Farajina, the 44-year-old mother of Manohara Odelia Pinot, denied accusation a day after it was reported that she was on the Interpol list of fugitives wanted by the French authorities. She claimed that the matter cropped up after she became "famous" because of her daughter's predicament and that it was "pure slander".

The mother and her 17-year-old daughter have been interviewed in various talk shows in Indonesia, repeating allegations of mistreatment Manohara had suffered at the hands of her husband Tengku Mohamad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has vowed to probe any complaint of mistreatment by Manohara ' if she would just lodge a police report.

On the Interpol story, Daisy said she was in France last year, where she was reportedly a suspect in a case of an Indonesian maid locked in her house.

"I admit that I was involved in a case concerning an adopted daughter, who was 15-years-old then.

"I caught her and someone close to me at the time indulging in immoral activities. After that, she ran away from our home and lodged a police report, claiming abuse.

"But nothing came of it after I was questioned by the French police," she said, in a telephone interview from her home in Slipi, West Java yesterday.

Daisy claimed that the girl had written a letter asking for forgiveness and she was willing to show it to anyone to "prove her innocence."

Brata Mandala, a senior police liaison officer with the Indonesian Embassy here, had said a "red notice" against Daisy had been distributed by Interpol which meant that she "could be arrested anywhere" and extradited to France.

Daisy said she was relieved to have Manohara by her side, adding that her daughter was happy now and sleeping peacefully.

"I am now trying to chart her future and I have several options, including her taking up drama contracts or for her to continue with her studies," she said.

Umno Muar branch chief Datuk Kadar Shah Sulaiman, who claimed to be one of the three men who helped Manohara escape from her husband while in Singapore, was reported to have said that the couple just needed a "break from each other."

"A cooling-off period of a few weeks or months and they may fall back in love," he said.

THAI coroners have completed an autopsy on the body of actor David Carradine, a day after the star of the TV show Kung Fu was found naked and hanging dead in his luxury Bangkok hotel room.

Coroners at Bangkok's Chulalongkorn hospital said they had not yet determined the cause of the 72-year-old's death and were waiting for the results of a toxicology screen but police have said he may have died from a sex act gone wrong.

"This certainly was not a natural cause of death," the hospital's chief coroner, Nantana Sirisap, said.

A maid found Carradine hanging naked by a rope in the closet of his hotel suite at the plush Swissotel Nai Lert Park hotel yesterday, police said.

"There was a rope tied around his neck and another rope tied at his sex organ, and the two ropes were tied together and hung in the closet," Lieutenant General Worapong Siewpreecha said.

"Under these circumstances we cannot be sure that he committed suicide but he may have died from masturbation," he said.

Police said there was no indication other people had been in the room, where Carradine had stayed during the shooting of a film called Stretch.

They would neither confirm nor deny suggestions that Carradine was attempting auto-erotic asphyxiation, a practice designed to boost sexual pleasure.

Carradine, from a family of performers and the eldest son of character actor John Carradine, enjoyed a long career on Broadway, television and in movies such as director Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2.

While some media reports speculated his death may have been a suicide, a spokeswoman said neither they nor his family believed Carradine was capable of killing himself.

"His family is in shock," Tiffany Smith of Carradine's management firm, said.

"They have the same belief we have. There was no way David did this to himself."

Carradine wrote in his 1995 autobiography Endless Highway that he had tried to kill himself when he was five years old.

The book also documented his alcoholism and extensive use of drugs, from LSD to cocaine.

He was made most famous by his role in the US series Kung Fu where he played Kwai Chang Caine, a half-Asian martial arts specialist, which earned him an Emmy nomination.

The role of Caine led to parts in more than 200 productions and his turn as the villainous Bill in Tarantino's Kill Bill movies led to his fourth Golden Globe nomination.

Carradine was married five times and had two daughters from previous marriages.

Carradine's death has similarities to the death of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence.

Hutchence died at Sydney's Ritz-Carlton hotel in November 1997, with the NSW coroner ruling he had committed suicide.

But some of those closest to him, including his brother, believe he accidentally strangled himself during a sex act .

(CNN) -- He has been at the center of Asia's biggest sex scandal, but now actor Edison Chen has broken his silence on the public episode that has ended careers and caused him to face at least one reported death threat.

Talking exclusively to CNN on his return to Hong Kong, where he had been forging a career in the movies, Chen reveals his side of the scandal that broke in early last year when hundreds of sexually explicit photos of Chen with other celebrities turned up on the Internet.

"There's been a lot of talk through the past year and a half about this or that and a lot of rumors, a lot of hearsay, and I feel, you know, I've kept quiet just to kind of respect everyone and respect the law," Chen told CNN.

A Hong Kong computer technician was sentenced to more than eight-and-a-half months in jail for dishonestly obtaining access to the intimate photos when Chen sent his computer in for repairs. But it is still unclear exactly how the images made their way to the web.

The photographs caused shock in Hong Kong and across Asia, with around 1,300 salacious images fueling front page news for tabloids for weeks.

There was also a huge public backlash against the 28-year-old who has been one of the rising young stars of Asia cinema. After the scandal broke, Chen, who admitted taking the photos, announced his retirement from Hong Kong's entertainment business and fled to his native Canada.

Added to the media attention, Chen says he faced death threats. A bullet was sent to a TV station in Hong Kong earlier this year warning the entertainer to stay out of the limelight. While Chen issued his own apology for any hurt or embarrassment caused soon after the photos surfaced, he maintains he suffered as well.

"I believed I was a victim. I believed that I was hurt by this a lot. I believed that...I knew that I had nothing to do with the spreading of these photos," he told CNN in the exclusive interview.

"I can't say I didn't do anything wrong. I've admitted that I was wrong, and I wouldn't say sorry if I wasn't wrong. But I also believe that at the same time that I wasn't the perpetrator, and I had suffered a lot from this as well."

Chen has suffered a spectacular fall from grace and some of the starlets in the photos have endured public disgrace in this culturally conservative region. For some, careers have been left in ruins.

Chen says he has not spoken to any of the women identified in the photos since the scandal broke. "Initially it was because I couldn't find them. Secondly, it was because I didn't really know how to approach and really what to say to be honest with you," Chen told CNN.

Cecilia Cheung was one of the actresses identified in the photos and in a recent interview, she had strong criticism for Chen.

"I wasn't allowed to talk to her in the initial because of the police request and they were investigating me...I had so much things on my mind," said Chen.

"I'm not trying to say that that justifies any wrongdoing that she thinks I've done to her. But I hope that she can understand, and I hope that she can forgive me either today or one day, and she'll understand that I had my difficulties, and I really, really never wished this to happen upon anyone, and I still respect her."

SEX photos, involving disgraced Hong Kong pop star Edison Chen and a string of starlets, were taken with the women's full consent, Chen has claimed in the latest twist to a celebrity saga involving more than a thousand explicit photos.

In an interview with CNN's Talk Asia, the Canadian-born star said the photos, which caused a scandal when they found their way on to the internet last year, had been taken with the agreement of the women.

"Everything was mutual. It was all consensual," he said in the interview, which is planned to air on Wednesday.

"If I have a camera in front of your face and there's a flash, do you know that I'm taking a photo of you? That's as simple as it is."

More than 1300 photos, which show Chen and the women in compromising positions, shocked many in the celebrity-obsessed but culturally conservative city and ruined the careers of some of the actresses and singers involved.

Chen apologised in the interview to one of the actresses, Cecilia Cheung, who had earlier criticised him for not saying sorry.

"I wasn't allowed to talk to her in the initial(stages) because of the police request...I really do feel sorry. I really am sorry to her."

A Hong Kong computer technician was last month jailed for eight-and-a-half months for stealing the photos from Chen's laptop when he sent it for repairs. But it is still unclear how the photos made their way on to the web.

After their internet appearance in February last year, they became one of the most searched-for items in Asia, where Hong Kong celebrities are huge stars.

Soon after, Chen, whose albums and film appearances made him one of Asia's biggest entertainment stars, announced his retirement from the Hong Kong entertainment scene and fled to his childhood home of Canada.

"I was afraid to go anywhere. I was travelling around when I was still in Hong Kong in trunks of taxis, literally, just to get to places," he told CNN.

"I had to be in the trunk for 15 minutes. I didn't even know if I had enough oxygen, to be honest with you.

"Even when I had left Asia and I... went to Canada and America, it took me three months to really get out of the shell that I had put myself in. I mean, I was in darkness for five days.

"I had my drapes closed and I didn't even want to go anywhere."

A TEENAGE model has returned to her family in Indonesia with tales of abuse, rape and torture at the hands of a Malaysian prince, after her dramatic escape with the help of Singapore police.

Manohara Odelia Pinot, 17, said she was treated like a sex slave after her marriage to Tengku Temenggong Mohammad Fakhry, the prince of Malaysia's Kelantan state, last year.

Her mother, Daisy Fajarina, said she would press charges against the prince and blamed the Malaysian and Indonesian governments for trying to cover up the abuse.

"The things I've been afraid of were revealed to be true. Manohara has suffered physical abuse. She's got several razor cuts on her chest," Ms Fajarina said.

"I will sue him. No parent could be silent if their child was treated in such a barbaric way."

The Malaysian Government had ignored her pleas for access to her daughter and had blocked her from entering the country, she said, while the Indonesian embassy had said that Manohara was fine with her new husband.

But the young woman - a well-known socialite in Jakarta - said her life at the royal palace involved a "daily routine" of rape, abuse, torture and drug injections which made her vomit blood.

"I am still traumatised by all that happened and it has left an impact on me," she said in Jakarta yesterday, after escaping the royal family during a trip to Singapore over the weekend.

"Sexual abuse and sexual harassment were like a daily routine for me, and he did that every time I did not want to have sexual intercourse," she was quoted as saying in The Jakarta Globe.

"I could never think a normal man could do such things," she said, adding: "Some parts of my body were cut by a razor."

She said she was forced to pretend she was happy with the prince and to attend social functions with him as his happy young bride.

"Every time I went for events they forced me to smile and would torture me if I did not do what they said," she said.

She said she secretly called Singaporean police and pleaded for help after the royal family took her to the city state when they accompanied Mr Fakhry's father, Sultan Ismail Petra Shah II, for medical treatment.

A spokesman for the Indonesian foreign ministry said the Government would help Manohara if she wanted to file charges against her husband.

She has already filed for divorce.

There has been no comment from the Kelantan royal family or the Malaysian Government.

A father who asked an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute to take his 14-year-old son's virginity has been given a suspended prison sentence.

The man from Bulwell, Nottingham, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given a 10-month suspended jail term.

Nottingham Crown Court heard the man, 42, had approached the undercover policewoman in the Mapperley area in July believing her to be a prostitute.

He admitted trying to solicit a woman to have sex with a child.

The court heard the father was arrested during an undercover operation by the city's vice squad.

The man drove up to the undercover officer and asked her how much she would charge for sex with his son, who was sitting next to him in the car.

Judge Jonathan Teare said he was not sending the father to prison because of his previous excellent character and that he believed he did not mean any harm to his son.

He said: "What you were doing that night was to expose your 14-year-old son to a prostitute because you didn't know she was a police officer.

"You have a duty of care to your son and that is to look after his moral welfare not, as you might think, to break him into the ways of sex through a prostitute."

The father's barrister Matthew Smith said: "There is a thorough sense of shame the defendant feels.

"It's completely at odds with every other part of his character."

Mr Smith added that the boy would be allowed to continue to live with his father.

The defendant will be placed on the sex offenders register for five years.

Man suing for damages due to sex ban 'anguish'

A Kenyan man is seeking damages for anguish sustained during a week-long sex ban called by women's groups in a bid to force political leaders to put their rivalry aside to work for the common good.

James Kimondo is suing the leaders of G10, a coalition of women's groups that called for a national boycott to push the men into resolving the east African country's political woes.

"Since the women called for the sex boycott, my wife has denied me my conjugal rights. This has caused me anxiety and sleepless night," Mr Kimondo said.

"I have been suffering mental anguish, stress, backaches, lack of concentration," he told reporters outside the Nairobi High Court, where he lodged his petition for damages.

The group even urged prostitutes to join the strike.

The strike ended on Wednesday with the organisers claiming it had been a success.

They argued that the country's egocentric male leaders should not have time for matters of the flesh when the country is ensnared in economic and political trouble.

President Mwai Kibaki and his rival Raila Odinga were pressured into a power-sharing deal by international mediators following violence which accompanied December 2007 polls, but lingering tensions have crippled the coalition government and fuelled widespread discontent.

The two, who have hardly met recently, held brief talks on Monday and held a cabinet meeting on Thursday, the first in a month.

Mr Odinga accused Mr Kibaki of stealing the presidential election, prompting protests that spiralled into a cycle of tribal violence and killed around 1500 people.

A Hong Kong computer technician was convicted today of stealing the racy photos of actor-singer Edison Chen that shocked the Chinese-speaking world when they were circulated on the internet last year.

The photos showed Chen performing sex acts with eight Hong Kong actresses and singers. They caused an uproar in the socially conservative ethnic Chinese community and forced the Chinese-Canadian entertainer and the other stars to take extended breaks.

The technician, Sze Ho-chun, was convicted of three counts of accessing a computer for dishonest gains and was remanded to custody pending sentencing in two weeks, Sze's lawyer, Kelvin Lai, told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

Lai said it wasn't immediately clear if Sze will appeal.

Television footage showed Sze arriving at court for the verdict wearing a surgical mask and sunglasses, with his head covered by a hat and a hooded jacket.

Magistrate Tong Man said Sze committed a serious crime by betraying the trust of his client and that he will likely sentence the technician to a prison term, radio RTHK reported on its website.

Prosecutors said during trial that Sze copied the photos from Chen's laptop when it was dropped off for repairs and gave other clients copies of the pictures on a compact disc.

Chen testified against the technician and identified several of the women featured in the photos at a deposition in Vancouver, Canada in February.

None of the female celebrities — including singer Gillian Chung and actress Cecilia Cheung — were required to appear during the 10-day trial.

Chen appeared in the 2002 hit Hong Kong police thriller 'Infernal Affairs,' which Martin Scorsese remade as 'The Departed,' and in the 2006 horror movie 'The Grudge 2' alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar. He also had a cameo in the Hollywood blockbuster "The Dark Knight," released last year.

Chen didn't immediately comment on the verdict.

Kate Castine, who runs the Principals Australia career education project on behalf of the federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, is calling for "career development concepts" to be included in the new curriculum to be introduced nationally by July 1.

Her concern is that little children rarely think beyond what their parents and relatives do for a living.

"The argument that children should be exposed to career development concepts at an early age has been endorsed by current worldwide research," she wrote in comments posted on the department's official online forum, seeking feedback on the latest draft of the "early-learning framework".

"Reference to career development competencies needs to be explicit so teachers understand its importance."

Ms Castine said research showed students as young as six could identify what they wanted to do when they grew up.

"They identify very, very limited careers, usually associated with their family," she told The Weekend Australian. "That makes quite good sense but what needs to happen is that children who are very young need to identify there's a whole range of possible careers ... and not just what they see at home."

Ms Castine said childcare workers could casually canvass career options with children while watching a film, playing, or on an excursion.

"If they go on an excursion on a bus, you can talk about how we need people to drive the bus, or you can go to the museum and talk about scientists. It broadens their thinking at a young age."

Queensland's biggest childcare chain, the community-based C&K, yesterday rejected the kids' careers counselling as "crazy stuff". "What about letting children be children?" said C&K's chief executive Barrie Elvish.

"It's bad enough that kids in years 11 and 12 have to choose a career. How on earth can you get a four-year-old to think about what they'll be doing in 20 years' time?"

But Ms Castine said career education needed to start early. "If they don't start considering other careers until high school, there's less possibility they're going to consider the whole range," she said.

The federal Government's plan for a national curriculum -- a prerequisite for giving all pre-schoolers 15 hours of free care each week from 2013 -- has sparked squabbling between academics, bureaucrats, childcare workers and parents.

Criticism of its politically correct jargon forced a rewrite of the original draft, released last November, and now the authors are working on a third version.

The nation's children's commissioners -- state government agencies charged with safeguarding the rights of children -- have warned against an "academic" curriculum for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.

"Care needs to be taken that we are not creating additional years of school for our youngest children through a stringent academic-based way of teaching," the commissioners from NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia and the ACT say in a submission.

THE bra market is expanding, literally. Up to 40 per cent of Australian women now buy bras with a cup size of DD or higher, new figures from lingerie suppliers show.

In the 1950s, the most common bra-cup size was a B - three sizes less than a DD.

Modern breasts are getting so large that some bra companies have introduced cup sizes as high as K, The Sunday Telegraph reports.

Experts blame the cleavage boost on obesity, contraceptive pills and artificial hormones.

Myer lingerie buyer Kerryn Sawyer said sales of DD-plus bras have grown from about 20 per cent of sales to 28 per cent in just five years.

Many lingerie labels such as Berlei and Triumph are now offering G cups while Fayreform, Freya and Le Mystere are producing select styles up to a size J.

Berlei brand manager Jane Edser said the company's range of bra styles, available in DD-plus, had, increased since 2005 from 75 per cent to 83 per cent, to cater for the growing market.

Bra company Eveden Australia launched a K cup into the market last year. The company's fitting specialist, Victoria Jubb, said obesity contributed significantly to the expanding chest sizes but the number of small-figured women with large breasts was on the increase.

"We're noticing a lot more girls with small backs and bigger bust sizes being fitted," she said.

Eveden's top-selling size is a 10G.

As women's chests have grown, the number of breast reductions have doubled in the past decade, said cosmetic surgeon Mark Goyen.

"There's definitely been an increase," said Dr Goyen, who runs Sydney surgery the Alia Clinic. "I was doing about 10 to 15 female breast reductions a year, now I'm doing 20 to 30.

"There's no question that because the population is bigger their breasts are bigger as well, because it's all fatty tissue.

"As women get older the amount of fatty tissue increases, and also the proportion of fat increases."

Sydney cardiologist Ross Walker said artificial oestrogens found in foods, plastics and cosmetics had also contributed to the growth spurt. Oestrogen in contraceptive pills also spurred the growth of breast tissue, Family Planning NSW research director Edith Weisberg said. "I think the higher-dose pills could, because the oestrogen causes development of the breast tissue," she said.

Larger, more cumbersome breasts often discouraged women from exercising, said body-image expert Jenny O'Dea, Associate Professor at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Education and Social Work.

Dr O'Dea said that makes it even harder to lose the weight and can lead to further increases in breast size.

"One thing I find in my body-image research is that girls and women with large breasts tend to avoid sport and physical activity because it becomes a bit bothersome," she said. "They stopped exercising when they developed large breasts, whereas we want big women to do the complete opposite and be as physically active as they can."

Chung was one of several starlets pictured in compromising positions with Chen, who has told a court the images were posted on the Web after his computer was stolen.

Chung said she lost all her dignity when the photos were released.

"There's no privacy any more," she was quoted as saying.

"I showed everything to everyone, and no matter what I do I'll get the blame. But dignity is the most important."

Images from Chung's tearful interview were plastered across the front pages of Friday's newspapers in celebrity-obsessed but conservative Hong Kong, where the photos caused a storm when they appeared in February last year.

RYANAIR are a step closer to charging passengers to poo after asking Boeing to design credit card-operated toilets.

Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary said he has approached the US aircraft maker after conceding his earlier idea of a coin-operated door wouldn't work because passengers would be using both the euro and the pound.

"We have looked into this before, and the problem is Boeing can't come up with a mechanism on the toilet door to take coins," Mr O'Leary told the Associated Press.

"We're suggesting they go back and look at a mechanism where you'd swipe the credit card for a quid on the toilet door. They've gone off to look at that… We are serious."

"Eventually it's going to happen. It's just we can't do it at the moment because we don't have a mechanism for charging you," he said.

Mr O'Leary said charging passengers to relieve themselves would "reduce an awful lot of the unnecessary visits to the toilet that (expletive) so many passengers off."

"Most people would go to the loo (toilet) before they get on the plane, or they hold it until they land. You would only have to deal with the people who absolutely have to go," he told the Associated Press.

Toilet fees could become the next serious money-maker scheme for Ryanair, who are already Europe's most profitable and aggressively expanding airline.

Mr O'Leary estimates if 20 per cent of passengers pay 1 pound ($2.21) to use the restroom, this would generate $33 million pounds annually – which he believes would generate future "fare savings to the travelling public."

Stephanie Courts made the revelation at a Royal College of Nursing conference in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Nick Wallis, 22, who has muscular dystrophy, told a national newspaper how he approached staff in January after realising that he was unlikely to have sex before he died.

The patient’s request was put through the hospice’s ethics committee and lawyers were consulted.
